Tinkoff launches a scholarship programme for Russia’s young talent

Moscow, Russia — 6 April 2022
Tinkoff has launched an annual scholarship programme for talented students of technical departments at Russian universities. In 2022, the scholarship budget will total RUB 20 m.

The programme aims to provide financial support to young talents, enabling them to focus on learning and enhancing their academic performance, as well as to shape a community of Russia’s finest technical students.

The Tinkoff 2022 scholarship programme covers two eligibility tracks:

  • The Academic Track is for students demonstrating outstanding academic performance and participating in national and international academic competitions;
  • The Industrial Track is for winners of programming championships and hackathons.

Programme participants will receive a monthly scholarship of RUB 25,000. The programme will also provide opportunities for personal and professional development, such as participation in a mentorship programme, exclusive events for high-performing students, and access to Tinkoff educational projects.

The Tinkoff Scholarship is available to Bachelor’s, Specialist and Master’s technical students of legal age (except last year’s students) from all cities and universities of Russia.

Konstantin Markelov, Vice-President and Business Technologies Director at Tinkoff:

«Our university years are a launching pad for professional development. Tinkoff was created by graduates of some of the strongest technical departments, and we know first-hand how important it is to focus entirely on your studies and refrain from taking on part-time jobs outside of your field.

We decided to launch our Tinkoff Scholarship programme in order to support young talents with a passion for technology.

However, this support is not purely financial as the students will become part of a community that will open gates to our events, educational programmes and feedback from top managers of Tinkoff and other companies.

The programme will feature two eligibility tracks — Academic and Industrial — at launch. Currently, each of these tracks has a maximum capacity of 40 students, but we are planning to expand the scholarship programme next year, both in terms of the number of tracks and of participants.»

To enter the competition for the scholarship, students need to:

  • Fill in the application form, upload documents and complete the selection test at Tinkoff Education before 16 May. The selection test consists of several programming or math problems, takes place online and lasts up to five hours.
  • Pass an online interview with the members of the selection committee.

The winners will be determined by a panel of experts, including Tinkoff top managers, prominent entrepreneurs, and representatives of scientific, educational and civil organisations.

The Tinkoff Scholarship competition will take place every year.

Supporting young talent and developing a loyal professional community are major priorities for Tinkoff. Our first educational programmes saw light back in 2016 and were aimed at aspiring IT professionals. Today, Tinkoff leverages an ecosystem approach to education: we cooperate with leading Russian technical universities and sponsor and foster over 30 educational courses in software development, analytics, QA, SRE, marketing, etc. aimed at schoolchildren, students, beginners and seasoned professionals. Since 2016, 11,000 talented youth have completed studies at Tinkoff Education.
